Today’s Web Awareness #6

Smart-phones keep us socially connected with our personal and professional lives, but new research suggests they actually reduce users’ social consciousness. In fact, the study showed that cell phone use was linked to more selfish and negative behavior. At times we may wonder how we ever lived without a smart phone?

In this day and age, it is always good to feel connected and have the opportunity to communicate with other people when we want to. However at times it can feel that our smartphone is ruling our lives. Notice in restaurants how many couples aren’t engaged with conversation but on their seperate smart-phones

Here are 3 strategies to limit your smart-phone addiction!

1.When on a mode of public transport, look for other creative ways to occupy your time such as chatting with the person next to you or maybe just relaxing and enjoying the moment or reading a book.

2.Limit your smart phone usage to a certain amount of time per day, for example 1 hour per day.

3.Discipline yourself in regards to the times when you choose to respond to emails, texts, other messages etc.
